Wallah, today is officially the second day of being on WordPress and the 3rd day of my summer. On Monday, I will be attending a “Mini Band Camp” that will last four days and 11 hours each day.
Plus, I live in Texas which can only make things hotter. (Better bring lots of water!) However, the point of this blog entry, as emphasized by the title, is to create a list of my daily “To-Do’s” that I want to accomplish for the day, so here goes:
- Stretch
- Kumon Homework
- Practice Clarinet
- Read and Complete a Summary for the Prologue of Guns, Germs, and Steel
- SAT/PSAT Practice
OK, not that I have gotten that out of the way, I feel like as if I should express more about myself.
Less than a year ago, in the beginning of August, I was a pale, short, and skinny 9th grader daunted by the reality of high school. As I nervously approached my high school, which was also in its inaugural year, I only imagined the worst of circumstances.
As I started my freshman year, I would have never imagined that I would be where I am now, as summer finally meets all of us. Yes, I do have a lot of regrets, (such as not joining enough clubs and being too shy) but at the same time, I have lots of hopes and joys. I have accomplished dreams that I thought were impossible and that a simple girl like me could never achieve. I have made new friends that will stay with me hopefully until the end of my high school career. Although I will be a sophomore soon, and only have three years of high school left, I know that the future is still very uncertain and unclear. Although I do believe in predestined fate to an extent, I believe that it is our actions that we do at the present that lead us to our destinies.
I was never raised on just one specific religion and, after reading several other blog entries from different websites, have realized and appreciated the value of each religion. Before I go on, I apologize if what I am about to type offends anyone but I intentionally don’t mean any harm to anybody’s beliefs and ethical values. I do believe in an Almighty Being and I think that every religion there worships that Almighty Being too, but just in different forms. Whether it is Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, and etc., in the most basic terms they are worshipping an Almighty Being, or a way to reach Divinity or into a similar state as an Almighty Being. Now, I was not cultured in the different religions so if you are reading this, please do correct me, but also remember that I mean no harm.
With that being said, I can’t choose just one religion to follow, because it would mean to me, as if I’m saying that the other religions are wrong. However, they aren’t. In a sense, all religions are connected as they are worshipping or trying to go into a state of the Almighty Being. So therefore, I am part-Christian, part-Islam, part-Jew, part-Buddhist, part-Hindu, and etc. I just refuse to proclaim any other faith as wrong because I find it wrong and I do not know their religion enough to be able to do such a thing.
Wow, I believe I did something called digressing here. I don’t know, but at least, if you bothered to read this, you get to know me better now!
Oh, and since I also need to study for my SAT’s, I shall now set a precedent and end every blog entry with a few or a handful of complicated SAT Vocab Words (From Sparknotes):
- abase (v.) to humiliate, degrade (After being overthrown and abased, the deposed leader offered to bow down to his conqueror.)
- abate (v.) to reduce, lessen (The rain poured down for a while, then abated.)
- aberration (n.) something that differs from the norm
- abet (v.) to aid, help, encourage (The spy succeeded only because he had a friend on the inside to abet him.)
